The ELODE system achieves dewatering through the dehydration method. It combines the actions of electrophoresis and electro-osmosis. First the sludge cake enters the anode drum and the cathode caterpillar. Then 3-phase AC voltage between the two electrodes push the sludge particles (-) toward the anode and water (+) toward the cathode. Electro-Osmosis Process of the ELODE system Early electro-osmosis, electrophoresis strongly push sludge particles (-) to anode (+) by an electrical potential difference. Intermediate electro-osmosis dehydration through movement of water (+) to cathode (-). Final electro-osmosis capillary pressure forces the absorbed water flow through porous solid to the cathode (-), causing destruction of cell membrane, releasing the intracellular water.

Reverse Osmosis Pretreatment System
The Reverse Osmosis Pretreatment System (ROPT) is designed for the preconditioning of industrial wastewaters prior to a Reverse Osmosis unit. The purpose of the ROPT system is to adjust the pH, ORP, and allow for the addition of specialty treatment chemicals, such as anti-scale chemistry. The Reverse Osmosis Pretreatment System (ROPT) consists of several tanks, beginning with a mechanically agitated pH and ORP adjustment tank. In this tank, the pH is adjusted to an appropriate level so the Langlier Index is correct, and the ORP can be adjusted to ensure that all free chlorine is destroyed prior to the Reverse Osmosis (RO) unit. In this same tank, anti-scaling chemistry is added on a volumetric basis to assist in the prevention of scale formation within the RO membranes. The water then overflows to a lift tank. This tank acts as a reservoir for the RO feed pump. The RO lift tank contains level controls that prevent the RO feed pump from running out of water preventing the tank from overflowing. A control system, based on a Siemens PLC, controls all the functions of the ROPT system. The reaction tank contains a Brawn mixer and GLI probes for pH and ORP signals. The pH and ORP signals are displayed on the GLI transmitters in the control panel. The output signals from the GLI transmitters will control the addition of acid and SBS to maintain the proper settings. Anti-scale chemistry is added volumetrically. All additions are made by LMI pumps. Features and Benefits Fully assembled at the factory Factory tested Units are catwalk integrated Units are match marked for ease of reassembly Rapid installation assured by skidded asseblies and mistake proof electrical connections
Silotank EAS Ltd
Biofilters
Our range of PermaBio units are designed to provide high efficiency in removal of odour. The units operate counter current. With competing shell systems the shell media is active in the scrubbing process and breakdown which dramatically reduces the removal efficiency of the biofilter. With the SILOTANK PermaBio range the media is inactive and does not breakdown with the result that removal efficiency is guaranteed 100% of operational time. Under IPPC you must prove that the biofilter will provide the same removal efficiecy consistently. This cannot be guaranteed with traditional shell systems
carbon adsorber
Solvents, volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) & malodours in liquid or gas phase can be absorbed onto activated carbon. The contaminants are removed from the gas or liquid stream by the process of physical adsorption. The removal efficiencies depends on the type of carbon, gas flow rate and the inlet levels of contaminates. The contaminated gas is passed through the carbon bed and due to the highly porous structure of granular carbon having a large surface area, high levels of contaminates are absorbed. When the carbon material becomes saturated with contaminants the material is removed and exchanged with fresh carbon material. Alternatively the exhausted carbon material can be regenerated with chemical in situ. This involves the carbon bed being flooded with a chemical reagent however the carbon bed will eventually become exhausted having to be replaced. Where high gas flow rates are present the use of carbon absorbers would be very costly to operate. In these cases wet scrubbing or stripping would be used first with carbon absorbers being used to ‘polish’ the gas. Where wet scrubbing is used a first stage process the humidity levels of the gas are critical for the success of the carbon absorption process. The photograph show 3 No 4600mm diameter Acid/Alkali Scrubbers used prior to 2 No 3500mm diameter Carbon Absorbers. SILOTANK supply single bed, dual bed and annular basket designs. Annular Basket Carbon Absorbers have been constructed to 4500mm diameter x 7500mm

Handling Systems for Powders & Granules Lime Handling System & Preparation System Sodium Bicarbonate & Preparation System Polypropylene & Polyethylene Granule Systems & Vacuum Conveying systems SILOTANK utilise GRP silos and hoppers within the handling systems due to the excellent characteristics of the material over traditional metals and alloys. Advantages of GRP over Metal and Alloys The advantages of GRP over steel is that the silos shells are manufactured on a helical filament winding machine and is a one piece construction with a glass smooth internal surface which leads to excellent flow characteristics. The GRP material has a very low thermal conductivity which means that the material does not sweat i.e there will be little or no condensation on the inside surface of the silo. The materials of construction are chemical resistant to hydrated lime, sodium carbonate, GAC, cement powder so no internal chemical resistant coating are required as with steel silos. The silo has a high strength to weight ratio due to the helical wound laminate. Our helical would laminates achieve 60% glassfibre content which gives tremendous strength compared to steel. Reduced civil requirements due lighter weight of silo. The supporting steelwork ring is bonded into the shell laminate so it becomes and integral part of the structure so you are not relying on steel welding. SILOTANK Materials Handling Equipment Includes a full range of equipment varying from vacuum & screw conveyors to control valves, dust filters, silo safety systems, fluidistation pad systems, bin activators and all can be automated ustilising control panel system. Domestic waste sorting plants
Plant description Up to 50 % of the domestic waste in big cities end up in the wrong dustbins. There you can find residues with the pre-sorted light packagings and contrariwise a lot of plastics are found in the household waste. Our contemporary sorting technology achieves very good sorting results to fractionate domestic waste into different potential recyclables. Here the question comes up whether it is still necessary to collect waste separately. In Spain for example STADLER has put into operation new conceptions of complete waste sorting plants which provide for both, the treatment of domistic refuste and the sorting of light packagings on a second line (see video clip). The material is to be sorted into different fractions by means of screening drums, magnetic and ballistic separators, near-infrared technology and/or manual sorting. All potential recyclables sorted out are passed on the further utilisation. The screened organical material is processed into renewable energy by the means of further treatment technology, which is to be provided from special suppliers. Biogas is being obtained by the process of biomethanisation. A heat block power station converts the biogas into electricity. The remaining organics are composted. Conceptual reasons The residual waste is containing a high proportion of potential recyclables, which are passed to incineration unused. If these residues would be sorted, a lot of recources could be taken out. Due to the production of renewable energies by biological waste treatment, an optimal efficiency of the used technology is guaranteed.
ERDF Plants | refuse derived fuels
Plant description Industrial and bulky waste contain a lot of recyclable materials with a high calorific value like for example cardboard, paper, wood, plastics, minerals etc. All these potential recyclables are taken from the material stream by automatical sorting systems and supplied as refuse derived fuels to coal-burning power plans and/or to the cement industry. Also on RDF plants, the STADLER ballistic separator has an important function by sorting out the most important material stream for this process, the high calorific flat and light fraction. All plastics not qualified for the production of RDF due to their proportion of contaminant are extracted by near-infrared sensors afterwards. The extraction of environment stressing PVC-parts ist very important. Conceptual reasons The regularised reduction of the waste quantities (landfill regulations) demands the conception of innovative and modern sorting plants and technologies for the effective treatment of waste. Residues which still have to be disposed are to be limited to a minimum. The alternative energy production becomes more and more important due to the shortage of fossil fuels.
Industrial waste sorting plant
In this plant, mixed industrial waste is sorted according to recyclable materials with a high degree of automation. Valuable substance fractions: FE, NE, PE, PET, PP, films, paper, cardboard, wood, minerals, refuse-derived fuels.
Sorting plants for light packaging materials
Plant description Film, plastic bottles, packagings etc. are to be found in our consuming and economic goods every day . A very important precondition for the further treatment of these synthetics towards raw material and recources processing for the production of recyclables and secondary raw materials is the unmix as well as the cleanness of these plastics. Our STADLER sorting plants separate this plastics scrap and fractionate it into potential recyclables by means of mechanical and automatical sorting technologies. The STADLER Ballistic Separator for example has become a DSD’s core unit of modern sorting plants due to it’s huge versatility of application. The positioning of the STADLER Ballistic Separator in the pre-selection for instance enables the division of the material stream into a “flat-light” and a “rolling-heavy” fraction at the outset of the whole process. The progressive optimization of sorting plants with regard to the classification of polymers strongly profits by the use of ballistic separators before near-infrared treatment. All plastic bottles and hollow bodies sorted out are further treated on a following processing plant for bottles. The material is being washed and grinded. By sink-float separation, which is a wet process based on the varying specific weights of the different synthetics to make a further quality control. Finally the dried mill material is to be regrinded once more. Conceptual reasons The high degree of purity of the “rolling-heavy” fraction, being produced with the ballistic separator, offers an almost fully automatic sorting of the polymers by optical detection techniques. Clean PET bottles are valuable raw materials, which can be easily merchandised for further production of high quality products.

Combined Cycle Power Plants
Designed for lowest life cycle cost Combined Cycle process schematic In a combined cycle power plant the hot exhaust gas of a gas or oil fired gas turbine is utilized to generate steam in a separate water / steam cycle. The hot steam is expanded in a steam turbine providing power to drive a generator. The combination of gas and steam turbine cycles allows electric power generation with highest efficiency. In a multi shaft arrangement (as shown in the picture) both, the gas turbine and the steam turbine, each are connected to a generator. In a single shaft arrangement gas turbine and steam turbine drive the same generator to produce electricity.
Example of a Steam Turbine Reheat Solution in a WtE Plant
One highly efficient solution for such waste-to-energy (or Energy from Waste) power plants is the SST-700RH reheat steam turbine which consists of one geared high-pressure (HP) module and one direct-drive low-pressure (LP) module. Proven standardization ensures low investment and life cycle costs. The SST-700RH has a high volume flow and a large exhaust area (up to 9.6 meters) to achieve maximal performance. The SST-700RH reheat solution was selected by Amsterdam’s Waste & Energy Company for its 4th generation WFPP (Waste Fired Power Plant) in 2003. With the SST-700RH at the heart of the process, the plant was designed to burn 900,000 tonnes of waste per year at an efficiency of 22%. During 2007, this will have increased to 1.5 million tonnes at an efficiency of 30%
Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC)
A Low Carbon Power Generation Option for the Future Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle process IGCC is a power generation technology that uses proven gasification technology to transform coal and other fuels into a synthetic gas (syngas) which is used in a combined cycle to produce power. This technology is available today that is attractive by enabling pre-combustion capture of up to 90% CO2 from the syngas for storage or enhanced oil recovery. We supply products and modules for a wide range of IGCC applications. Our gas turbines have accumulated significant operational experience on syngas in IGCC plants and other applications. In addition to the traditional Siemens power generation products that are available for IGCC application, we can also supply plant controls, compression solutions and gasification technology. Benefits: Very low air pollutant emissions Proven CO2 capture process Fuel flexibility of SFG (Siemens Fuel Gasification) gasifier for a wide range of solid (and liquid) fuels Lower water use and solid waste production Can be integrated into polygeneration facilities Phased construction possible Gas Turbines for IGCC Applications Our state-of-the-art gas turbine and steam turbine generators are well suited for IGCC projects. We have developed reference plant concepts that will lead to cost effective, complete combined cycle power plants for IGCC applications in the 500-600 MW size range.
Reheat Steam Turbines to Power Biomass Plants
Biomass is an extremely valuable source of energy, since it is defined as CO₂-neutral and a renewable energy source. As available resources are limited, maximum utilization of the fuel is very important and the technologies to be applied have to be efficient, reliable and cost-effective. Biomass-fueled Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants are an excellent solution to increase power output without burdening the environment. Driven by economic considerations and the need for uninterrupted power supply, our steam turbine technology has been fine-tuned to harmonize with this plant concept.

Siemens Wind Power - Proven Technology
Today, the increasing energy demand and the need for clean power generation leads everyone's mind to the concept of renewable energy sources. With highly efficient, solid and reliable wind turbine Siemens Wind Power offers a solution to meet energy needs and environmental awareness.
Steam Turbine Solutions for Solarthermal Power Plants
High oil and gas prices and awareness of greenhouse effects are contributing to an increasing demand for renewable energy. Solar power is one renewable energy option to satisfy that growing demand. A typical process is to gather solar radiation in collectors, concentrating the heat to tubes in their center, transferring it to synthetic oil in the tubes and further to heat exchangers close to the power plant. The heat exchanger transfers the heat thus generated into superheated steam, to run a steam turbine for generation of electrical power. The oil which transfers the heat cannot sustain a consistently high temperature. To counteract this, Siemens offers a steam turbine reheat concept in a two-module arrangement (SST-700 RH), where each of the modules can be optimized for its specific operating conditions.
