In 1993 the business moved to premises at Brendale in Pine Rivers Shire, Queensland, Australia and App-Tek then began to promote its imported product range into new areas. In particular, App-Tek successfully introduced the Neotronics MiniGas portable gas detector to the Australian underground coal mining industry and by the late 1990's had developed this product to the extent that it had become the most used and best supported portable gas monitor in this industry.
With the employment of key technical staff in the mid to late 1990's, the new skills they brought allowed the company to address a niche market opportunity to design an electronic measuring instrument for odor control in the wastewater industry. Ensuing research and product development culminated in the January 2000 launch of an innovative environmental product, the OdaLog H2S Gas Logger, and by this stage the business had grown to employ 15 people.
The initial OdaLog Logger (see image opposite) was designed specifically to record hydrogen sulphide gas emissions to address environmental odour control concerns associated with urban wastewater collection systems and was quickly recognised as the most advanced gas logging device available in terms of its application for sulfide odor source monitoring in the Australian wastewater industry. (Prior to the development of the OdaLog H2S Gas Logger, various H2S safety gas detectors were being modified and adapted for this application with limited success).
To address increasing market demand, floor space was increased in July 2000 and again in December 2002 through the purchase of additional premises adjacent to the existing facilities at Brendale in Queensland.
To focus on research and development and to maximise exports, a new wholly owned entity "App-Tek International Pty Ltd" was formed to employ the Research and Development team. This new business began operating from the new premises from July 2000.
The original business (now known as App-Tek Safety Pty Ltd) remained at the original address to concentrate on maintaining the existing importing business as well as to promote the first OdaLog model within Australia.
Following market acceptance in Australia, international marketing activities commenced and, as at June 2003, distributors had been appointed in twenty one countries with excellent acceptance of the OdaLog brand occurring in Europe and North America.
In Sept 2006 App-Tek became part of Biolab (Aust) Ptd Ltd which in turn is part of the Alesco Corporation. We remain at our original premises at Brendale and will continue to develop products in Australia as well as providing our customers with first class customer service and assistance using our wealth of industry experience

| OdaLog Low Range 0.01-2.00ppm Logger The OdaLog Low Range H2S Logger is a high sensitivity, portable, convenient, and weather resistant instrument designed to assist in H2S odour management activities. It accurately measures concentrations of H2S much lower than the standard range of OdaLog H2S Loggers. With a range of 0.01 to 2.00ppm, the OdaLog Low Range H2S Logger allows reliable measurement of H2S based odours at plant fence-lines, scrubber outlets, land fill sites, and residential locations where odour complaints are frequently reported. Typically the OdaLog Low Range H2S Logger may be placed at the outlet of a scrubber for performance tracking or several units may be mounted on a fence line or plant perimeter for the purpose of measuring concentrations of H2S leaving a facility and entering adjoining properties. Data can be logged at sampling intervals of between 10 minutes and one hour. The recorded H2S data can be downloaded to a computer using the standard OdaLog infrared link and OdaLog software. An internal battery (1 x standard C size Alkaline cell) will operate the built-in sampling system continuously for at least seven days and a separate internal Lithium cell powers the main processor functions for at least two months. |
| SoundPatrol Series Enforcement of local noise ordinances requires field testing of noise levels and documentation of measurement results, particularly in the event a citation is issued. The need exists for a simple system that requires minimal training to be easily deployed in the field by law enforcement personnel. The system must provide credible data and convenient methods for field calibration and printing of test results in the field. The solution is the Sound Patrol DP 1200 (Class 1) and the SoundPatrol DP 2200 (Class 2) integrating sound level meters with digital printing capabilities. Both meters are rugged, high-quality devices and users will quickly learn to confidently perform a pre-test field calibration, take a valid noise sample, perform a post-test calibration check and generate printed results using the system’s convenient belt-worn portable printer. |
| Thermal Environment Monitors App-Tek Safety offers the full range of QUEST thermal environment monitors. In all QUEST thermal environment monitors, a dry bulb sensor measures ambient temperature; a wet bulb sensor takes into account evaporative cooling, giving an indication of the effects of humidity on an individual; and a globe sensor provides an indication of the radiant heat exposure on an individual due to either direct light or hot objects in an environment. Each of these measurements are converted to a simplified, single number indoor and outdoor WBGT Index. Datalogging and non-datalogging models are available, in addition to an optional relative humidity sensor and detachable air velocity probe on some models. |
