TANA SHARK MOBILE SHREDDERS – UNIQUE VERSATILITY +++
The Finnish provider of solid waste treatment technology, Tana Oy, is launching its novelty, a slow-speed mobile waste shredder to the international market. The machine is Tana’s own development utilizing technology true and proven for decades in the TANA landfill compactors...
TANA CORPORATE PROFILE
Success Based on Evolution
Today Tana serves customers in 30 countries around the world through a network of independent distributors. The company has constantly been evolving throughout its existence. Today it is number three in landfill compactor business holding a 20 % market share of the markets where present. Over the past few years the company has experienced an annual 15-30 % increase in sales volume and profitability.
Tana was established in 1971 and in 1995 it was completely re-capitalised. In 2003 Tana was ranked as one of the 50 most interesting growth companies in Finland. The same year the largest venture capital company 3i through its Finnish operation became a minority shareholder in Tana, thus even further strengthening Tana’s international position in the solid waste treatment technology market
Innovative Solid Waste Management Technology
The TANA compactors have always been designed from the ground up with one goal in mind: to be the world’s most productive compactor in managing solid waste on a landfill site. The product is not an adaptation of an existing machine such as a wheel loader or an asphalt compactor. During the past decade Tana has concentrated only on landfill compactors and produces today better machines than ever before: TANA G Series landfill compactors.
Tana’s extension to the compactor line is a slow speed mobile shredder, TANA Shark that is unique in versatility. It is suitable for most recoverable, recyclable and reusable materials – whether it was for just volume reduction, recyclable material production or renewable energy fuel production. The versatility of the TANA Shark makes it possible for a customer to invest in one shredder unit that allows a quick and cost efficient conversion to suit most waste fractions. Some of the technology tried and proven in compactors, such as Tana Control System, engine, and hydrostatic powertrain are utilized in shredders as well.
Future Brings New Challenges
Solid waste management faces challenges relating to volume, legislation and logistics. The EU Landfill Directive places strong restrictions on landfill waste requiring pre-treatment. This results in the landfill waste changing substantially, becoming more homogeneous and very often more difficult to compact. The cost lifecycle of a landfill is most important. All sites will have to justify their operations on the acceptable level of cost of waste treatment per ton. Most do this already. Minimising the cost of treatment per ton maximises the profits. Profitability in terms of treatment productivity, minimised machinery down-time and better turnaround timing of waste transport is the key. Tana wants to demonstrate its open willingness to be a part of that environment together with its customers.
