Gas Lift

Injecting natural gas into the riser reduces the weight of the oil column to the extent that the pressure existing in the remaining reserves is sufficient to raise the oil-gas mixture as far as the production platform. The gas is separated from the oil again in downstream separation plants. Industrial Gases

Air separation plants are used in various branches of industry, such as the chemicals and petrochemicals sector and the iron and steel industry, to produce oxygen and nitrogen for further processing in an industrial application. In the air separation plant, air is sucked in, compressed and then cooled by means of an air compressor. Moisture and any pollutants contained in the air are removed. The end products of the air separation process are liquid nitrogen and an oxygen-rich liquid that is broken down in turn into liquid or gaseous oxygen and gaseous nitrogen. For the cooling process turbines are used, in which the gas is expanded (cooled). If the volume flows correspond, the turbine and compressor are linked for an energy recovery process. Industrial Power Generation

A lack of technical infrastructures prompts industrial companies to decide in favour of producing their own power. Economic considerations, such as how to utilize the heat released in the industrial process, also play a part here. In this case, industrial companies maintain their own power-generating or combined heat and power plants (CHP), which provide the entire infrastructure of the industrial process with power and make the company virtually independent of the central energy supply network. Municipal Energy Company

Municipal Energy Companies supply electricity, gas and heat – if district heating systems are available – to the surrounding towns and communities. In contrast to large-scale power stations, they supply predominantly regional consumers, such as households and local industrial firms, with power. Industrial gas turbines and/or industrial steam turbines are used in this regard, sometimes with a combined heat and power function (CHP) or in the form of combined-cycle installations.
